2D guidance

Confirm before depth

Recommended flow

Use the demo first, choose a readable 2D layout, drag a few nodes if needed, then confirm the structure before moving to 3D mapping.

Position adjustments

In this step, drag nodes directly in the scene to refine the layout. This is the fastest way to open congested regions before bundling.

Selection behavior

Click a node to highlight it and its immediate neighbors. The rest of the network fades so local structure is easier to inspect.

Depth choices

Attribute mode

Numeric attributes become continuous height. Categorical attributes become layered slabs. Use this when you want structure and semantics at the same time.

Globe (sapphire)

This wraps the approved 2D layout onto a sphere. It is especially effective for exhibition-style scenes and volumetric bundle sculptures.

Practical advice

Keep the mapping simple before bundling. If depth becomes too strong too early, bundle comparison becomes harder to read.

Interpretation tip

Use compare mode to decide whether you want faithfulness, flow clarity, directionality, or sculptural structure. Then extract a skeleton from the winning bundle.

Skeleton parameter guide

Grid: sampling resolution for the density field used to estimate bundle corridors.
Density threshold: minimum local density required before a corridor is accepted as part of the centerline.
Simplify tolerance: how aggressively the extracted lines are reduced into cleaner branch geometry.
Minimum branch samples: shorter branches below this support level are discarded as noise.

Styling guidance

Scientific ↔ expressive

Scientific defaults

Scientific dark and technical blueprint keep geometry readable and are best for analysis, teaching, and method comparison.

Expressive presets

Glass, neon, and metallic presets are better once the structure is already settled. Use them after bundle and skeleton decisions, not before.

Background control

A darker background strengthens depth cues. A lighter background works better for print previews, papers, and SVG export.

Fabrication notes

Printability

Build a physical model to see printability hints.

Minimum thickness

Increase radius if warnings suggest fragility. Thin branches may look elegant onscreen but fail in print or snap during handling.

Base plate and pedestal

Use a base plate for reliefs and wall pieces. Use a pedestal when you want the network to read as a freestanding sculpture.

Export workflow

Preview in the studio, export STL or OBJ, then inspect supports and wall thickness in your slicer before sending to production.

Fabrication parameter guide

Minimum radius: baseline rod thickness used for printable struts and branches.
Target width: overall scale normalization for the exported object, in millimeters.
Node connector scale: enlarges joints where multiple rods meet, improving strength and assembly plausibility.
Relief depth: depth budget when building wall pieces or flattened artifacts.
